I have officially entered my school drop-off era, and apparently it has also become one of my favorite reasons to get dressed in the morning.
After spending the last few years either pregnant, postpartum, or working from home with two under, I’ve been having so much fun finding my style again. School mornings are obviously not the time for an elaborate outfit, but I’ve realized that putting on something I actually feel good in makes such a difference in how I start my day.
My current school drop-off formula is pretty simple: great pants or jeans, an easy sweater, and a flat shoe that makes the whole thing feel a little more pulled together. Comfortable enough to walk Benny to school, but cute enough that if I’m meeting other moms for coffee afterward, I don’t feel like I need to go home and change.

The Jeans + Sweater Formula
Probably the easiest combination in my closet and the one I keep coming back to. Straight-leg denim, a slightly oversized sweater and loafers feels effortless but still polished. It’s the kind of outfit I can throw on without thinking and know I’ll feel good in all morning.
I’ve also been loving swapping the sweater for a striped polo or knit. Same jeans, same easy formula, completely different look.

The Elevated Track Pant
I will forever be a track pant girl, especially for an early morning drop-off, but I like making them feel intentional. A crisp white button-down, relaxed black pants and a great flat is basically my version of getting away with wearing pajamas outside of the house.
It’s comfortable, easy and still feels like an outfit.

The Oversized Button-Down
An oversized striped button-down with cropped pants and flats might be one of my favorite combinations right now. There’s something about a slightly exaggerated shirt that makes even the simplest black pants feel cool.
This is also one of those outfits that works for basically everything after drop-off, whether I’m heading to a meeting, working from home or grabbing coffee.
Brown Is My Fall Neutral
If you’ve been following along, you know I’m very into brown this season. I’ve been wearing these relaxed brown pants constantly with everything from a chocolate sweater to a soft green knit.

Add my brown flats and a big everyday bag and it’s exactly how I want to dress right now: comfortable, uncomplicated and still put together.
The biggest thing I’ve realized is that I don’t need an entirely new wardrobe for this stage of life. I just want really good basics that I can mix and match without thinking too hard at 7:30 in the morning.
Good denim, relaxed trousers, oversized button-downs, cozy knits and a rotation of flats have basically become my school-mom capsule wardrobe.
Is “cool mom school drop-off style” officially a category? Because I think I’m making it one.
